Walk to discover the flora and fauna of the Marais: 5km

• Description:
  “The hundred year old ash trees, the duck weed, the huge poplars, the well camouflaged moorhens, the grey heron... The marshlands reveal their secrets. The guide presents different aspects of the wetlands: the diversity of the countryside, the fauna and flora, the architecture, the old customs and know how.”
  
  
• Time for walk: 2 ½ to 3 hours
• Price: 6 €/person + travelling expenses for guide (0,545 €/km)
  (free for those staying on the site on Monday afternoons in season)

Lecture about the countryside

This can be a ½ day or a full day activity

Morning lecture on the countryside:

• Description:
  "A 1.5km round tour to get to know the three main aspects of the Marais Poitevin countryside : the water basins, the wet marshland and the dried out marshland. The guide talks about the cultural and agricultural life of the region and the importance of the waterways. A number of topics are mentioned including water management and farming management."
  The aim is to acquire knowledge of the key elements of the region to help when exploring later on.

• Price: 6 € per person + travelling expenses for the guide (0,545 €/km)

Full day lecture on the countryside:

• Description: a further afternoon visiting 3 sites between Maillezais and the bay of Aiguillon to provide visual material on the hydraulic system within the Marais Poitevin.

  2. Gateway to the sea - the meeting of fresh water and sea water
  3. The port of the Pavé à Charron, with the opportunity to look at bird watching material

Nature excursion

• Description:
  "Taken by a nature guide, you will discover the wealth and diversity of the Marais Poitevin : the water network, the flora and fauna, the local economy..."
  The excursion starts with a walk along the ditches and canals and the return journey is by punt in the heart of the Marais.
• Time for activity: 3 hours
• Price: 13 € per person + travelling expenses for the guide (0,545 €/km)
• Maximum number of people : 13
